Our Story
Johnson Hospitality was founded by Ron and Randy Johnson in 1999. Leveraging Ron’s 14-year career with Marriott and decades of executive and management experience, they obtained a Courtyard franchise and successfully developed and built the Courtyard Palo Alto-Los Altos, a hotel they still own and manage to this day. Today, Johnson Hospitality has interests in nine Marriott hotel properties throughout the Northern California area with Courtyard, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, and Fairfield Inn & Suites brands.
We recognize that the dynamics of each hotel project and the motivations of each hotel owner are unique. We offer a level of focus and engagement that is unsurpassed, allowing us to identify and adapt to opportunities and market forces faster and more efficiently than our competition. Our culture of service extends not only to our guests and hotel associates but to our owners, investors, and lenders as well. Building relationships up and down the ladder is a cornerstone of our success.
Johnson Hospitality is actively seeking to expand our portfolio of hotels and hotel brands throughout the western region of the United States. We provide management services, equity investment, and hotel development services. We take great pride in our track record of superior RevPAR index performance, profit maximization, and asset appreciation.

The founding member of Johnson Hospitality, Ron Johnson was responsible for the ownership, development, and operations of the Courtyard by Marriott Palo Alto-Los Altos in Los Altos, California. As the Managing Member of the ownership group, Ron was responsible for the construction of a 190-room hotel during the difficult economic times following the events of September 11, 2001.
Ron Johnson was also instrumental in the development of the award-winning SpringHill Suites Napa Valley. A custom-designed, custom-built property, Ron provided pre-opening advisory and management services. He remains actively involved in the ongoing management and oversight of the property.
Ron’s previous executive experience includes the following:

Ron graduated from the University of Minnesota in Duluth with a Political Science degree in 1963. In college, he was a varsity athlete in hockey and golf. Ron served in the United States Army from 1965-1967.

Randy specializes in business strategy, investment analysis, hotel operations, asset management, and ownership services. He founded Johnson Hospitality with his father, Ron, in 1999. They developed and opened their first property in 2002, the Courtyard Palo Alto-Los Altos. They maintain an equity position and provide hotel management services there to this day. He opened the SpringHill Suites Napa Valley in 2009 and was responsible for leading the pre-opening process. Under his leadership, the property earned the Opening General Manager of the Year award and the Opening Sales Team of the Year award from Marriott International.
Randy led Johnson Hospitality through the first of multiple ventures with InfiniPower Hospitality beginning in 2012 with the assumption of management services at the SpringHill Suites Sacramento Airport - Natomas. This successful partnership led to the acquisition and management of the Fairfield Inn Rancho Cordova with InfiniPower in September 2013 and the development and management of the Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn North San Jose in 2019.
Before joining Johnson Hospitality, Randy was a Senior Associate at HVS International from 1997 to 2000. As a consultant for HVS, he performed appraisals and feasibility studies of over forty lodging facilities in sixteen states. He also assisted in assignments requiring expert testimony for the purpose of property tax assessment disputes and ground rent arbitration. He graduated from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree and an academic concentration in finance.

Stacy Smith began working for Johnson Hospitality in 2002 with a concentration in human resources and operations. She is involved in all phases of hiring and staffing and is responsible for oversight of all human resource functions.
Prior to Johnson Hospitality , Stacy worked for Wyndham International in various capacities from 1998 to 2002. At the time of her departure from Wyndham, Stacy's title was Vice President-Regional Human Resources Operations. She also served in numerous capacities at the Hilton Chicago Hotel and Towers from 1992 to 1997, most recently as their Assistant Director of Human Resources. Stacy graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Hotel Management in 1992.

Manny has built a successful career and gained valuable perspectives from his fifteen years of varied and extensive experience in the hotel industry. His expertise includes repositioning properties under receivership, emergency response, and brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Choice, and boutique properties.
His start in the industry came in the dynamic market of New Orleans as a property controller at a 288 room Hampton Inn & Suites with 12,000 square feet of meeting space. There he moved his way up to hold positions such as Accounting Manager and Assistant General Manager. He became the youngest General Manager in his company’s history at the age of 24, eventually earning the title of Area Manager of five properties shortly after.
During Manny’s time as Area Manager, he helped build a newly created management company by building systems, procedures, and effective teams. His properties were consistently recognized for exceptional revenue growth. This achievement led to his appointment to the Ascend Collection brand consultation committee responsible for national development. In addition, he helped consult the team that built Choice’s independent PMS platform Sky Touch.
Manny’s passion stems from learning and understanding all aspects of growing a successful business. He focuses on creating efficiency through technology that maintains synergy with the operation. He creates loyalty through servant leadership, collaboration and takes a macro-management approach. He respects team members with passion, critical thinking, and high emotional intelligence. He has trained several department heads, including General Managers and Revenue Managers, who have advanced to lead successful careers.
Manny enjoys spending time with family and friends on the water and loves nature and engineering. Manny relocated back to California to be closer to family and joined our team, focusing on the areas of the field he loves most.

Lisa discovered her affinity for the accounting industry when she began working for her parents as a bookkeeper for their computer business in 1998. It is there that her father taught her the fundamentals of the accounting process. A Bay Area native, her hotel career began at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley as an Income Auditor in 2001. Lisa’s passion and curiosity allowed her to grow from there, experiencing every position within the accounting org chart.
Lisa progressed into her first Controller role in 2009 with Fairmont hotels. She brings a wealth of experience in hospitality spanning independent and branded hotels, full-service and select-service, brand conversions, new builds, and fractional ownership properties. Before joining Johnson Hospitality in 2018, Lisa worked for Fillmore Hospitality as an Area Controller, opening newly constructed Cambria hotels in Texas, New Orleans, Nashville, and Los Angeles.
Lisa is creative in nature and a protector of her business. She brings an impressive skillset to make fast and safe decisions to meet the needs of our owners, managers, guests, and operational teams alike. She is a trainer at heart and loves helping others grow.
Lisa has educated herself in multiple accounting facets from Diablo Valley College, Heald College, and San Francisco Junior College. In her spare time, Lisa loves the outdoors, cooking, and simply sitting in her back yard listening to the neighborhood birds while drinking a coffee.

Rich Kraiker is one of the hotel industry's foremost experts in revenue management and a true pioneer in the field. He began his career with roles in operations and sales, twice earning general manager of the year awards. Rich shifted to the revenue management discipline, serving as the Silicon Valley Cluster Director for Marriott International with a later promotion to Regional Director, Revenue Management. At the conclusion of his Marriott career, Rich served as the Continent Senior Director, Revenue Management, where he was responsible for 780 hotels throughout North America.
Rich went on to an independent consulting career working with clients such as Marriott, Aimbridge, Island Hospitality, Apple Hospitality, Colony Capital, and many others. He is frequently engaged as an expert liaison between Marriott International and other hotel management and ownership entities. He is an expert in Marriott International systems and tools, having been instrumental in many of their designs. He assisted in the development of the precursors to what is now the TravelClick universe of revenue management tools. He joined Johnson Hospitality in 2019 as Corporate Revenue Management Leader with oversight of the entire hotel portfolio.

Germaine has been in the hospitality industry since 1998 when she got her start as a Front Desk Agent/Night Auditor to put herself through college. Not long after, she realized her love for hotels and decided to pursue hospitality as a career. She was promoted to Assistant Manager and later to General Manager after getting her degree in Business Management. Germaine went on to manage several different hotel products and was recognized for leading teams to exceptional revenue and service growth. Her accomplishments led to her being awarded as an Ambassador for Hampton by Hilton as a Strength-Based Coach. As an Ambassador, she was tasked with leading and coaching the next generation of general managers developing them to utilize their strengths, find their purpose, and create positive, engaged teams.
Germaine joined Johnson Hospitality in October 2018 as an Area General Manager. She was promoted to the corporate team in 2020 as the Corporate Revenue Manager. She provided immediate results by delivering market share premiums throughout the coronavirus crisis. Germaine is responsible for all aspects of revenue management including strategy, pricing, yield management, demand analysis, forecasting, and analyzing micro and macroeconomic trends.
